Shopping bag dilema?

by SuburbanHousewife @ 2007-11-03 - 18:32:47

Desperately trying to reduce the amount of packaging that passes through my home.

My target is have nothing in carrier bag this month. But is it ok to turn up at Morrisons with a pile of Sainsbury's heavy duty re-usable carrier bags? :??:

Speaking as some-one who works at 'the other' well known supermarket, let me assure you that there is no reason whatsoever why you can't use whatever bags you like.
We frequently get customers packing their shopping in a variety of different branded bags. It was strange at first but since the drive to reduce the use of plastic bags it has become common place.

Certainly, it is your right to put your shopping in whatever carrier bag you choose. :o)

Margaret has made me 2 cool bags -she assures me they are really easy to make, or even customise. I try hard to remember to take them shopping with me - and there is something about putting my shopping in them rather than plastic that gives me a tiny good feeling!

What happened to the nice reusable green plastic crates we packed our Safeway shopping in, before Morrisons took them over? In the days when you carried a little gadget around the store to scan your own shopping before using the self-service tills?

So much for progress.
