Excitement over nothing!

by SuburbanHousewife @ 2007-08-20 - 09:46:08

My home grown veg have been really disappointing this year, especially my tomatoes. There are hardly any one the plants and they just aren't ripening.

Until yeaterday, when I got all excited to see one small tomato blushing slightly.

Unfortunately, in my excitement, I promptly knocked it off the plant! :(

Its not properly ripe :(

(but I will do anyway!)

Might be worth letting it ripen a day or two first...

Hey..!
Tip of the day.
If you live near the country side and have access to cow droppings, you can dissolve two of them in a bucket full of water and water your plants with it. No joke, it's the best fertilizer ecological too. In other words back to the roots.
Cheers..!

Thanks Redflaw!
That is the good thing about living in the 'burbs though - you have an excuse not to handle cow dung!

Whatever... Living in the city adapting urban skills driven away from nature is a huge issue to put under microscope. Don't know if such can be found.

Our tomatoes are pathetic too...and the plums seem to be rotting on the branches...too much rain. The point about the cow manure is a good one...honestly!

My friend has a wormery, and she puts what she calls "worm-juice" on her vegetables!

They take up less space on the patio than a cow! :)
